What this site collects.
Short version: anonymous visit statistics, only if you agree, and whatever you choose to type into the sign-up form. Nothing is sold, and no profile is built about you.
Who this is
This website is operated by the Brandon Simon for Mayor campaign in Welland, Ontario, in connection with the October 26, 2026 municipal election. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.
Information you give us
The sign-up form on the Join page collects your name, email address, and optionally your phone number, your ward, your availability, and anything else you choose to write. If you request a lawn sign it also collects the street address where the sign will go.
This is used to contact you about what you offered, to organise volunteers and lawn sign deliveries, and to send campaign updates if you asked for them. It is not used for anything else.
Information collected automatically
If you accept cookies, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. IP addresses are anonymised. The campaign sees totals and trends, never individual people.
If you decline, no analytics cookies are written and no identifier is stored on your device. Consent is denied by default until you choose, so nothing is set before you decide.
Cookies
Two things are stored in your browser: your cookie choice, and your light or dark theme preference. Both live in your browser’s local storage, not on a server. Clearing your browsing data clears them.
If you accept, Google Analytics also sets its own cookies to recognise a returning browser. The Tally sign-up form sets cookies when you interact with it, because it needs them to function.
Who else is involved
The campaign uses a small number of service providers, and each receives only what it needs to do its job: Netlify (hosting), Google Analytics (visit statistics), Tally (the sign-up form), and Cloudinary (image and document delivery). If you contact the campaign through its Facebook page, that conversation happens on Meta’s platform under Meta’s own privacy policy. Like any host or content delivery network, these receive the technical request needed to serve you the page, including your IP address.
Your information is never sold, rented, or traded. It is not shared with political parties, advertisers, or data brokers.
Email and anti-spam
Under Canada’s anti-spam legislation, the campaign only emails people who have expressly agreed to receive messages. That is why the sign-up form has a consent checkbox rather than a pre-ticked box. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask to be removed at any time using the contact details below.
How long it is kept
Sign-up information is kept for the duration of the campaign and is deleted within a reasonable period after the October 26, 2026 election, unless you have asked to stay on the list or the law requires it to be retained longer.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law you can ask what personal information the campaign holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and withdraw your consent to be contacted. Use the contact details below and it will be handled.
Children
This site is intended for adults and for voters. The campaign does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, get in touch and it will be removed.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revision date at the top of the page will change with it. Material changes will be noted on the site.
Change your cookie choice
Your choice is stored in your browser, not on a server, so clearing your browser data clears it too.
